Employee grants & scholarships
There are a range of scholarships and/or grants Queensland Health nurses and midwives are eligible to apply for including:
- Queensland Health Nursing and Midwifery Scholarships
- Queensland Health Nursing and Midwifery Research Grants
- Nurse Practitioner Scholarships
- Nursing Mental Health Scholarships

Mental Health Scholarships
Queensland Health Mental Health Scholarships are available for Queensland Health employees enrolled in postgraduate studies leading to Mental Health Endorsement for nurses. The scholarship provides assistance through part reimbursement of fees. Scholarship application packages are available from either the local district mental health service or by contacting the Mental Health Workforce Project Officer on (07) 3234 0685
Other scholarships
There are also a range of other scholarships available to Queensland nurses and midwives including Queensland Nursing Council Scholarships and Research Grant and various scholarships offered through Royal College of Nursing Australia (RCNA).
Study and Research Assistance Scheme
Queensland Health's Study and Research Assistance Scheme (SARAS) is designed to help employees who are pursuing courses of study or research projects. You may be eligible for SARAS assistance if the course of study or research that you are undertaking helps you better perform your job, or if it generally contributes to the achievement of the department's goals.
