Cadetships
The Office of the Chief Nursing Officer (OCNO) is committed to improving the retention rate of Queensland’s future Indigenous Registered Nurses. The Department of Workplace Relations (DEWR) provides Indigenous Cadetships for successful students.
Collaboration has occurred between DEWR and OCNO to provide a supportive program for Indigenous nurse students. The OCNO is pleased to offer funding to support for up to 40 Indigenous Cadetship within Queensland Health. The OCNO is currently co-ordinating 20 first round applications, a further 20 will be released early 2008.
If there are unfilled cadetship positions in 2007, the OCNO will conduct a marketing campaign across Queensland Universities early 2008 to promote the remaining scholarships.
